money is not evil... the worship of it is

"One of the dangers of having a lot of money is that you may be quite satisfied with the kinds of happiness money can give and so fail to relise your need for God. If everything seems to come simply by signing checks,(or sliding a card), you may forget that you are at every moment totally dependent on God" -C.S. Lewis (Mere Christianity, bk IV, chap.10, para. 11)italics added by me

    Death and Taxes

Someone a whole lot smarter than me said the definition of insanity is, doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. I have 1040 insanity. I tried filling my taxes on-line and the result was that I owed "THE MAN" a little over a thousand dollars. Thinking that can't be right I tried it the old fashioned way. Walked into the post office and picked up the booklet and forms needed to file the 1040. Not the 1040 EZ mind you but the full length form. I dusted off my calculator, sharpened my #2 pencil, and cleared my desk. After a few hours of sifting through W2's, 1099int's, if X=Y then proceed to step 2a fill out form 1888 and schedule D, yadda, yadda, yadda. I finally finished and to my surprise came up with the same amount. Alas I was still not convinced. So I went to the IRS Website and found one of their recommended sites. Third times a charm, right? Well...Right...More like three strikes yer out! Once again the same sum. So I conceded, the clouds came in The rain came down. This was THE RAINY DAY. There goes my rainy day fund...Oh well time to start saving again

    Who R U

"...the Caterpillar took the hookah out of its mouth, and addressed her in a languid, sleepy voice. 'Who are You?' said the Caterpillar...Alice replied, rather shyly, "i-i Hardly know, sir, just at prestent- at least I know who i was when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.'" --Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carrol

Hearing about a movie called "Unknown white male" about a photographer who gets amnesia, got me to thinking. the eternal Question...Who Are WE? What if you woke up and don't remember who you are?

Who am I...I am a sum total of all the decisions and choices I have made up till this point. All Those past choices are stored in my subconsious mind as Memories. All The memories I have are what Inform current choices. i.e. I may not touch a hot stove because I have a subconcious memory of getting burned.

So what happens when one gets amneshea and dosen't remember any thing, their likes dislikes, style of clothes or music? does that "other person" even exist anymore? Is it possible to be a different person from one day to the next?

    WHO ARE YOU???

    That wascaly wabbit...

december 18th, 2005... Nine days after the big three-O...I have been deemed worthy enough to be wise. I awoke this morning smacking the awful taste out of my mouth with my toungue attempting to produce enuff siliva to mositen the dry cotton that the sand man left and rubbing the gooey sleep from my eye's. I gaze into the mirror and to my surprise a supurb, shimmering, silver strand of wisdom had emerged through my cranial epidermis. It is official...I am...dare i say it...going grey...and at such a young age too.

I am hooked on "lost." I found this link of the film footage explaining "the Dahrma Initiative" on Last weeks episode. it sounds to me as if the island was (maybe still is) a "large scale communal research compound" thats the way it appears anyway. did anyone else notice the polar bears? (think last season) hmmm.

    False "Profits"

"but seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you." Matthew 6:33' we have this all wrong in society today we seek things first, Cars, Ipods, TiVo then after we are comfortable then the kingdom" I heard this being said by a pastor on a certain "Christian" radio station O.k . at first hearing this, one may sit back an say "amen" to that. The pastor Then went on to say "god wants us to be comfortable, If we first seek his kingdom then all these things computers, cars, nice clothes...things will then be added unto you.

You have to follow God and then he will give you the things you want." This pastor spoke for half an hour and talked about a Christmas gift he wanted and how he got it. other stories from his life with a few jokes to sprinkled trough-out to make everyone laugh. Besides quoting the verse at the beginning of his sermon, it wasn't until five minutes from the end that he mentioned what I have quoted above.

It may sound like there is nothing wrong with what he said. That is the danger of heresy it sounds legitamate but if he had gone into the bible and read the rest of Matthew 6 the "things" that are being talked about are shelter, food, and clothing the minimum required to survive. I am sure there are people hit by Katrina that were "seeking the kingdom first" were is their stuff now? Where is their "things" they may not be comfortable but they have shelter and food available. Thanks to orginizations like the Red Cross

    and churches like Grace Bretheren

This pastor I'm sure wasn't intending to distort the scripture, but that's what happens when we approach the Bible selfishly as merely a book of truths to give us a set of principles for life, marriage, family, or finances. The Bible becomes nothing more than a tool to be used and it remains external. When we see the Bible as the living word, as Gods Story, it encompasses every aspect of life we are challenged to live in and become part of it.

    Introverted iNtuitive Thinking Perceptive

this is the reason i rarely post its who i am. my blog personality or "bloginality"

    "You are an INTP!

As an INTP, you are Introverted, iNtuitive, Thinking, Perceiving.
This makes your primary focus on Introverted Thinking with an Extraverted Intution.

This is defined as a NT personality, which is part of Carl Jung's Rational (Knowledge Seeking) type, and more specifically the Architect or Thinker.

As a weblogger, you might not be as concerned about popularity, but more with the ideas and theories that you strive to understand. Because routines aren't your strong point, you might be more likely to work on the concept of how to do a blog, but not be as excited to keep it up."

    My Bloginality is INTP!!!

money is the root of all evil...

...does that mean there was a money tree in the garden of eden?

habitual credit card use can be as dangerous as heroin, just as addictive and probably costs as much to. The other day I read an article about how this young mother ran up $50.000 in credit card debt from buying gymboree outfits fifty THOUSAND dollars in baby clothes c'mon that’s just crazy. Imagine if the APR on that card was just 12% she would be paying $500 a month just for the privilege of staying in debt. Its like saying, "here's $1000 put $500 toward what I owe and you keep the rest, buy your daughter a few gymborie outfits"

since i don't post too often i've decided to leave a few morsels to chew on:

"Our incomes are like our shoes; if too small, they gall and pinch us; but if too large, they cause us to stumble and to trip." John Locke

"I'm living so far beyond my income that we may almost be said to be living apart."
    e. e. cummings

"Faith is different from proof; the latter is human, the former is a Gift from God."
    Blaise Pascal

"Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia."
    Charles Schulz

"I am so busy doing nothing... that the idea of doing anything - which as you know, always leads to something - cuts into the nothing and then forces me to have to drop everything."
    Jerry Seinfeld

"I have a phone now...and there was much rejoycing"
    Nathan Voss
