WHAT AM I DOING???

Ok here is a little ten minute exercise that is a little dissolving. You can do it right now while you are reading this post or next time you are alone listening to the buzz of silence contemplating solitude.
You feel cut off from the rest of the world and at that instant you feel you are the only one that exists lonely and bored. Nothing could be further from the truth. You will find out how mistaking you really are.
Right now in this moment, ask yourself what your friends, family, roomates, college buddies, highschool friends, anyone; is doing right now. Picture them in your mind. what there current activity is. Try and place them in relation to where you are now in space, beside you, to the left, right. Imagine how far they are from you. see them from different angles. Now think about the scene of people who might be around them.
broaden your point of view an imagine everyone else in their neigborhood, town, city. What are they doing; working, shoping, sipping a latte at starbucks, studing, sleeping. How many people in this world at this precise moment are clipping ther toenails? surfing the net, sipping a hot cup o soup?
How many at this instant are listening to music, watching t.v., trying to get comfortable in an airplane seat. How many are laughing, crying, dreaming?

How many at this instant are asking the same questions?

hair today gone tomorrow

well my fans have been patiently waiting for another inspired pearl from deep within the cognitive grayness on the darkside of my ocular cavities. I was sent an e-mail, this one inparticular had an attachment, photo of some redhead. My friend, on a whim decided to dye her hair red. earlier in the week a former co-worker came into Starbucks sporting jet black hair. yesterday I just got bored and took a pair of clippers to my noggin. with one strand of hair scientests can determine what type of diet one has, were one lives, race, and virtualy unlimited DNA information. like the rings on a tree our hair provides a rich history to those who know how to dicipher it. Imagine once one decides to walk into the hair stylist or the drugstore to pick up that box of dye, they have decided to alter the course of their life. the stylist will shampoo, snip, snip, buzzzz, buzzz, a little, a lot, somewhere between, maybe none at all. they apply color or peroxide to remove existing color. perhaps a million tiny strands of your old self being swept into a pile mingling with other salon patron's past personas. Just sewpt into a dust pan and thrown out. when the process is finished you walk out an apparantly new person with a renewed confidance. It will more or less conform to your asthetic notion of what is the new "you". For a split second people you know won't recognise you. even though you are still essentially the same, the same likes and dislikes, same taste in music.

The future present has a past and it's now

Marty McFly : Wait, you don't understand. If you don't play there's no music. If there's no music they don't dance. If they don't dance they don't kiss and fall in love and I'm history.
I'm sure just about everyone has seen Back to the Future. in the movie Marty McFly goes back in time and inadvertantly disrupts the space/time continum, when he saves his dad from a fatefull accident that was the original conext of his parents meeting and falling in love. He now has to ensure they meet and fall in love, before he ceases to exist.
we all come into this world at a certain point in time when our history our part of the story begins. untill that time there was no "self" before that point of conception we didn't exist. When I was young i had the idea that we were in some ethereal plane (heaven) just waiting to be born. From the moment we are brought into this world our expiriences begin to shape who we are and will become. "Remember that which made you who you are, remember that which makes you unique, and forget everything else that makes you tired, scared, and weak."

The 8th wonder of the world

...COMPOUND INTEREST...

This is why credit card companies are EVIL they are the fruits of the DEVIL. I learned this the hard way and now having to deal with thousands of dollars in credit card debt. Take the chess board legend which illustrates the Fibonacci sequence, and compound interest works in a similar way. I have figured out how to be completely debt free in three years including: my student loans, credit card debt and car loan. Thanks to Stacy Johnson author of the book Life or Debt. In the book he takes you step by step in creating a debt destroyer. Which consists of: gathering your all your debt. Figuring out which debts to pay first (current balance ÷ min. Payment) rank them from first to be paid to last. Every month you pay the minimum on all, except the first one. The first one gets blasted with the debt destroyer ( Minimum payment {minA} + 10% of your income). Then it snowballs the first debt gets paid. The money going to that debt rolls over to the next on your list (minA + minB +10%) . The idea is you figure out a fixed amount to go to debt repayment (minimum payment on all debts plus 10% of income or other set amount). The beauty part is that compound interest can work for you too. Stacy talks about how to take that "Debt Destroyer" and invest it and have that compound interest work for you.

It's my life...I can do what I want

"Hey. Could we do that again? I know we haven't met, but I don't want to be an ant. You know? I mean, it's like we go through life with our antennas bouncing off one another, continously on ant autopilot, with nothing really human required of us. Stop. Go. Walk here. Drive there. All action basically for survival. All communication simply to keep this ant colony buzzing along in an efficient, polite manner. "Here's your change." "Paper or plastic?' "Credit or debit?" "You want ketchup with that?" I don't want a straw. I want real human moments. I want to see you. I want you to see me. I don't want to give that up. I don't want to be ant, you know?" - Waking Life

Living in a heavily populated area such as SoCal. we encounter, maybe hundreds of people a day. Imagine going to work and think about every car you pass. The passenger staring out the window into oblivion stuck in his own internal world of thought. What is he thinking about? The meeting at work, the fight with his wife earlier that morning, the lyrics of the song on the radio, is he thinking about the politics and world events, or is he staring at the lady in the red Corvette appling her mascera watching the road only through the corner of her eye. Unaware of anything other than the tiny strands of hair poking out of her eye lids. noticing that she needs another application of Botox. Is she on her way to a casting call for the next Bachelor, Is she a real estate agent going to show a house to perspective clients, or maybe shes on her way to meet Franklin Johnson whom she only met twenty five minutes earlier in an internet dating service. The same chatroom that Frank and John, two jr high boys, were on pretending to be a 35 year old dot com Billioniar, before being called downstairs to catch the bus. wich only moments earlier was stopped at a crosswalk waiting for a little old lady on her daily walk with Fifiher little white dog that resmbles a mophead.
we are all living our lives unaware of how many people we encounter on a daily basis un aware of the consequinses of our actions. there are certain moments in time we chose to carry out a certain action that effects the rest of our life and those around us there are more than 86,000 of those moments every day and the 6billion plus people in this world also have numerous moments where consiously or uncounsously they have to make life changing desisions. It may be as small as turning right on red or waiting for the light and turning at the next block. Imagine you are running a few minutes late and decide to turn on the red as you go down the road you notice a school bus is stoped at a crosswalk and you see a lady ever so cautiously steping down off the curb with a mop on a leash. Glancing at your watch you anxiously tap every finger on the steering wheel: pinky, ring, middle, index, pinky, ring, middle, index each time the cadence becomes faster. This just makes you angrier, "come on lady" you think as you glance at your watch only to see that time has slown down and the second hand is now moving half as slow. The bus finally begins to move. And now everything is tainted with frustration every one around you now seems rude. our curent mood effects how we see everything around us.

"every thing looks perfect from far away"

Andrew Largeman : You know that point in your life when you realize that the house that you grew up in isn't really your home anymore? All of the sudden even though you have some place where you can put your stuff that idea of home is gone.
Sam : I still feel at home in my house.
Andrew Largeman : You'll see when you move out it just sort of happens one day one day and it's just gone. And you can never get it back. It's like you get homesick for a place that doesn't exist. I mean it's like this right of passage, you know. You won't have this feeling again until you create a new idea of home for yourself, you know, for you kids, for the family you start, it's like a cycle or something. I miss the idea of it. Maybe that's all family really is. A group of people who miss the same imaginary place.

I just saw this movie and i must say, i enjoyed it. When I saw the reflextion of Zach Braffs face divided symetrically by the seam of the medicine cabnet doors opening to display a vast array af perscription drugs then being closed now being slightly off-center. I knew I was in for a visualal and psychological treat. Its one of those movies you walk away from and every thing looks brighter, more beautifull, you are happy to just be alive. we are reminded that it is o.k. to laugh at our selves, none is perfect and life at times can be painful. we can't just sleepwalk through life, becoming numb to the reality of the world around us. The movie Garden State had artistic cinematography, the dialoge had philosophical overtones with a subtle hint of sarcastic humor, and the sound track was fantastic.

PEANUTS

PEANUTS, originally uploaded by etan07.

what is the natrix?

the natrix is a place...in cyberspace where i can question my self, views, philosophy, and existance. The world out side my self ....yadda yadda yadda...

i just wanted soapbox that i could stand on and shout to the world...
I am not going to apoligize for my doubts i'm just trying to figure out what this life all about. filter everything through a kingdom centered lens, a reality of the awareness of the kingdom of God. not just American Christian eyes
seeing the big picture of Gods plan.

So my first post is asking the question...Can Existentialism and Christianity coexist in the same worldview?

"Are you a Christian or something?"

in his book Everyday Apocalypse, David Dark ("in an attempt at defiance of the malicious impatience of a sound-bite culture") responds, "Describe what you mean by (Christian) and i'll tell you if you are describing
me."

there is an interview with David Dark here:
